Chevy Celebrates Corvette's 70th Anniversary with a New Limited Edition Package

American automaker Chevrolet commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Corvette with the release of the limited edition package for the 2023 model. The company announced that the package will be available for both the base Stingray and the newly revealed Z06.

The company marks 2023 as a significant year for the brand. For one, the original All-American Supercar Killer celebrates its 70th birthday, marking the original C1 Corvette’s success as it was first launched in 1953.

Another significant moment will be the arrival of the new Corvette Z06, whih will be powered by a potent 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 gunning 670 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque.

According to the company, the limited edition package will be offered in two colors—White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat and Carbon Flash Metallic—both of which can be had with matching racing stripes. The package also includes a special wheel design paired with commemorative badging and red trimmings.

The interior is finished with two-tone ceramic leather GT2 or Competition Sport seats and red seatbelts. The red motif continues with the car’s mechanical parts as the brake calipers will also be painted with the same touch, along with the engine covers on Stingrays.

Owners of the new limited edition package will have 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette badges adorning the interior and exterior of the model. A commemorative interior plaque on the center speaker will be placed, matching the graphic on the lower rear window noting the anniversary.

The 2023 model is surely one for the books. The model with the code “Chassis #1” will most definitely be a collector’s item. So the company plans to auction the very first 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette, which ironically happens to be the first production Z06, at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction on January 29, 2022. Earnings will be donated to charity.

BMW and Jeff Koons Unveil New M850i Art Car

German automobile maker BMW partnered with American artist Jeff Koons to design the latest BMW Art Car. The mechanical art piece is formally called THE 8 X JEFF KOONS (Yes, in all capital letters), based of the M850i xDrive Gran Coupé. Deviating from the previous Art Cars of BMW which were exclusively made for cultural engagement, the Jeff Koons edition will be on display in Manhattan’s Rockefeller Plaza, where one will be will be auctioned off at the prestigious Christie’s Auction House in New York on April 4. According to BMW all profits will go to the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) where Koons has been involved with for over two decades.

VW Teases Amarok Sketches Showing Rugged New Look

Volkswagen may not be the most popular pick-up truck manufacturer, but its determined to make a bold statement. A new VW Amarok is set to debut this year. And as a result of its collaboration with Ford, the truck will share the same platform with the new Ranger. The two auto giants inked a partnership deal a few years back that saw the two companies agreeing to work on various next-gen projects, including the mid-size truck platform. Considering that the Ranger is world-beating performance pick-up made by America’s premier car brand, it’s safe to assume that the Germans will be getting a strong grip on the segment. Whether the Amarok will be powered by a VW engine or a Ford unit was yet to be determined. Though speculation suggests that Volkswagen may use a powerful V6 TDI. The possibility of equipping the truck with VW's 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is not a bad idea either, given the fact that it is capable of 255 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque.
