Kris Jenner Got New Electric Cars for the Kardashians

Kris Jenner surprised the Kardashian family with custom electric Mokes for the holidays. The unlikely choice of funky ex-military-grade vehicles was somewhat unexpected as the family was famous for their lavish lifestyle.

To those unaware, Mokes were part of the 60’s era of cars which were primarily offered to the British Army using pre-existing Mini parts. Having the abundance of locally sourced parts, and the availability of manpower to manufacture these vehicles meant they were practical purchase for the government then.

However, these made for poor off-road vehicles due to their low ground clearance, thus making it a liability during combat, therefore scrapping the idea. On a positive note though, these cars made their way to hip youngsters of that era which converted these rollers as beach buggies and became part of surfer culture all around the world.

Mini Mokes may not have invaded the battlefield, but it surely earned its place in pop culture. Nowadays, these cars are being transformed to electric vehicles by a company named Moke America, selling them for about $20,000, plus an additional fee for customized work.

EV Mokes aren’t made to compete with high-end electric cars like the Tesla Model S or the Porsche Taycan. These are made as alternative rides for those people who value fun and character over prestige and status. The Moke’s specs are: 40-mile range, 25 mph top speed, 12 kWh battery capacity at 6 to 8-hour charge time.
